THE REP MAY ISSUE 2024 ✿❀✿
introducing maiya
We're thrilled to share some exciting news from our talented team. If you follow us on social you may have heard the news but had to share it here as well!
We are welcoming a new stylist to our team, Marissa McKinnon! Marissa is passionate about blonding and dimensional color along with curl cuts and styling. She started her career focusing heavily on special occasion hair and makeup and will be not only joining our team in salon but on site too. She has been filling up on advanced education behind the scenes and has already made a wonderful impact on our team, aligning with the true values of TEAL- Truth. Eductaon. Artistry. Love. Marissa was a highly sought after stylist @elena_the_salon and we cannot wait to have her here in MA. She will start as a level 3 stylist on Wednesday's, Thursday's and Saturday's in June. Welcome Marissa!
Book your Spring + Summer Weekend Appointments
Wedding season is in full swing! We always want to provide you with the best service possible, as the warm weather approaches, so do our limited openings on the weekends. We currently have over 45 weddings booked between now and the end of 2024 with that number growing daily.
We are expanding our team, while maintaining TEAL hair standards and our "beyond purpose" client experience. We strive to provide flexibility in scheduling and multiple stylist options while some of our team are on site for events.
Taking this into account, we want to send out this friendly reminder that evening + weekend appointments will fill up fast! One feature that we offer is a continuing Waitlist. If you cannot book your first choice appointment day or time please text, email or call us (if not in person) with your requested date(s) and time(s) along with services you would like booked so we can add you to our waitlist. Often things change, just as our schedules do, and clients get for their requests! Our waitlist is offered year round, so take advantage of this magical perk!

DAILY PRACTICE:
Activation
Is meditation just not your thing? Having a hard time sitting with a blank mind affects SO many of us. This type of meditation may not be for you.
Recently, I was listening to a podcast, and the guest was speaking about activation. Rather than sitting in quiet, trying to clear their mind, they listened to motivational, inspiring words and visuals that painted their DREAM life. They matched it to music that got them fired up, and invigorated their spark! The best part of this practice...You record them yourself, in your own voice. It's scientifically proven that hearing these goals, visualizing your future and activating your drive actually works! (Like Pavlov's dogs but better!)
Of course you can record these yorself on voice memos, but there are a few apps I have come across for those who are looking for more guidance. The Think Up app is a simple fun one with suggested affirmations and music or sounds. I also found The Superhuman app which is a all-in-one app to propel these things at lightening speed. Both apps offer free trials.
What I love about these practices is they take no additional time and are scientifically proven to supercharge your intentions and make them a reality. If you try them out, we would love to hear your experience!
HEALTHY RECIPE:
Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps
These Thai chicken lettuce wraps make a delicious appetizer or lighter main dish you can make at home. They are full of flavor!
Ingredients:
1 Tablespoon sesame oil
¼ cup onion diced, I used yellow. White onion works too.
2 cloves of garlic
1 tablespoon fresh minced ginger or ginger paste
10 oz ground chicken
¼ cup Tamari (low sodium) or soy sauce, coconut aminos
2 Tablespoon Thai sweet red chili sauce (we love Trader Joe's)
juice of 1 lime
1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey, agave
⅓ cup cashews chopped – raw or roasted/salted
¼ cup scallions chopped
¼ cup cilantro fresh, chopped
¼-½ cup carrots shredded
Sesame seeds for topping
1 head butter lettuce – leaves removed
Instructions:
Make the garlic, ginger pan sauce. Heat a pan to medium high heat and add the oil. Once the oil is hot, add in the onions. Toss and let cook for 2-3 minutes until the onions start to brown and turn translucent. Then add in the garlic and ginger. Toss that all together and let it cook for 2 minutes.
Cook the chicken. Add the ground chicken to the pan, tossing it in the pan sauce while breaking it up with a wooden spoon or spatula. Season the chicken with a little salt and pepper and let it cook until it turns golden brown and there is no more pink, about 3-4 minutes.
Make the thai chili sauce. Meanwhile, add the soy sauce, chili sauce, lime juice, and honey to a small bowl and mix to combine.
Add the sauce to the chicken. Sprinkle the chopped cashews over the chicken in the pan and pour in the sauce. Toss that all together, reduce the heat to low and let that all cook for 2 more minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes, then stir in the carrots, chopped scallions and cilantro.
Assemble the lettuce wraps. To assemble the lettuce wraps, open one of the lettuce leaves and add a large spoonful of the chicken mixture into the wrap and top it with some of the pan sauce and sesame seeds. Continue until you have made all the lettuce wraps.
